The patterns
- First short trip: Central or Jomtien — Central for convenience-and-nightlife, Jomtien for beach-and-calm;
- Family: Jomtien or a northern resort — space, beach, family amenities;
- Long stay: Jomtien condos or East Pattaya value, ideally with your own transport (transport); see renting once you're past the hotel stage;
- Quiet/upscale: Wongamat, Pratamnak or the northern beaches.
Budget tiers, without pinning a number to them
Pattaya's accommodation spans budget guesthouses, mid-range hotels, serviced condos and full luxury resorts, often within a short walk of each other — the range is wide enough that “Pattaya is cheap” and “Pattaya is expensive” are both true, depending which end you book. Booking sense
- High season (roughly Nov–Feb, see weather and seasons) books up and prices peak — reserve ahead; green season is negotiable and cheaper;
- Public holidays and major festivals like Songkran add another demand spike worth planning around if your trip overlaps one;
- Proximity to your priority (beach, nightlife, quiet) beats a central address you'll want to escape;
